Two Fantastic December Wine Classes!
We are excited to welcome James King, an experienced wine educator, to The Tasting Room. James will be offering two great wine classes in December. For many years, James has been conducting certification-level wine classes that last 6 or 8 weeks and have specific focuses for the subject matter - both for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and for the French Wine Society. His website is thetexaswineschool.com.
We will be offering these larger classes at The Tasting Room after the New Year. However, right now, James also conducts "individual" classes that are one night only and have a specific focus. We are excited to have two of these classes scheduled in December.
Each class will include a tasting of 8 wines, a PowerPoint presentation, discussion, and handout materials. Cheese and crackers will be served during the class. These classes are designed to be educational as well as entertaining.
Dates and Times:
Sunday, December 5 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm
Champagnes and Sparkling Wines from Around the World
This class - perfect for the holiday season - will help you learn about and recognize the most important countries/regions for sparkling wine production, the most important grape varieties used for sparkling wine production, the most important labelling terms for sparkling wines (both for inexpensive bulk production and for premium quality wines), the methods of production used for common sparkling wines, and the key factors influencing the style, quality and price of the sparkling wines from the identified regions and districts.
Sunday, December 12 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm
Wines of Napa Valley - Napa Valley Rocks!
Introducing Napa Valley Rocks, an engaging presentation created in partnership with the Napa Valley Vintners Association that digs into what makes the Napa Valley America's premier winegrowing region. We'll explore the unique geological formations of the valley, why it is an ideal climate to grow grapes, historical milestones, and the tradition of leadership that is continued today. This presentation will further your understanding of Napa Valley, its sub-appellations, and its unique place within the world of wine.
Cost:
$60 per person (plus tax) per class, or $100 (plus tax) as a "combo" if both classes are purchased in advance. Tickets are non-refundable.
